Texas Instruments TPS763/TPS763-Q1 LDO Voltage Regulators
Texas Instruments TPS763/TPS763-Q1 Low-Dropout (LDO) Voltage Regulators offer the benefits of low-power operation, low-dropout voltage, and miniaturized packaging. These regulators feature low quiescent currents and dropout voltages compared to conventional LDO regulators. The TPS763/TPS763-Q1 is offered in a 5-pin, small outline integrated-circuit SOT-23 package and is ideal for applications where board space is at a premium or for cost-sensitive designs.
A combination of process innovation and new circuit design has replaced the usual PNP pass transistor with a PMOS pass element. The PMOS pass element behaves as a low-value resistor, so the dropout voltage is directly proportional to the load current and is low (typically 300mV at 150mA of load current (TPS76333/TPS76333-Q1)). The quiescent current is low (140µA maximum) and is stable over the entire range of output load current (0mA to 150mA) because the PMOS pass element is a voltage-driven device. Intended for use in portable systems such as cellular phones and laptops, the low-dropout voltage feature and low-power operation significantly increase system battery operating life.
The Texas Instruments TPS763/TPS763-Q1 includes a logic-enabled sleep mode to shut down the regulator and reduce quiescent current to 1µA maximum at TJ = 25°C. The TPS763/TPS763-Q1 is offered in 1.6V, 1.8V, 2.5V, 2.7V, 2.8V, 3V, 3.3V, 3.8V, and 5V fixed-voltage versions and a variable version (programmable over the range of 1.5V to 6.5V). The TPS763-Q1 devices are AEC-Q100 qualified for automotive applications.
